Mico rondoni

Mico rondoni was described in 2010 for the region of the Jamari River, a tributary of the Madeira River, State of Rondônia, Brazil. This marmoset occurs only in the forests of Rondônia State and its name, rondoni, is a coupled tribute to this state and to Marshal Cândido Rondon.
More studies are needed to estimate how many Rondon’s marmosets exist in nature and to evaluate the impacts of deforestation on its survivorship, both information are essential for the development of conservation strategies for Mico rondoni.
