Amazon Marmosets threatened

The Amazon marmosets are a diverse group of primates that occur across the Amazon Rainforest. With exception of three species, all are endemic of Brazil.

Recent researches indicate that the majority of the Amazon marmosets have small distributions and this makes them vulnerable to deforestation due to human settlement, expansion of agriculture and construction of large infrastructure - especially in the southern part of the Amazon biome. More research on biology, ecology and evolution are urgent to support the conservation of these small monkeys.
